About Dr. Mary Mendelsohn:
Mary Mendelsohn, M.D. is a graduate of Yale University for college, and S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook School of Medicine medical school. Her ophthalmology surgical training was done at New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, where she also completed a subspecialty fellowship in medical retina. She then did a second subspecialty fellowship in ophthalmic oncology at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Mendelsohn has special expertise in treating diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. She also greatly enjoys all aspects of general eye care, including glasses, contact lenses, glaucoma therapy, amblyopia and children's eye exams.
Dr. Mendelsohn is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has lectured at national ophthalmology meetings. She received the Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation grant and the David Warfield Fellowship grant award for her work in ophthalmology.
She enjoys speaking to community
groups, and has given presentations to local seniors groups, low vision groups,
ophthalmic technical society meetings, and the Girl Scouts Career Night! If
